MIRI: Two cousins out fishing at Luak Beach were horrified to encounter the body of a man hanging by a rope at an abandoned hut on Friday afternoon, near Kampung Luak fish market here.
Joel Santek, 26 and his cousin, Ronnie Balang, 19, were in the area around 2.30pm to catch fish, and stumbled across the gruesome discovery 30 minutes later.
“We managed to catch one fish before we ‘bumped’ into the man,” said Joel when met by The Borneo Post yesterday.
The duo immediately rushed back to Kampung Luak fish market about 200 metres away, where villagers later called police.
Two Mobile Police Vehicles (MPV) were dispatched to the scene, located about 10km from Miri city.
At the scene, a Proton Waja (red colour) was seen parked at the fish market, which was believed to belong to the deceased.
“We had seen this car parked here since this afternoon,” said one of the villagers to The Borneo Post.
Meanwhile, Miri police chief ACP Mun Kock Keong confirmed on Friday evening about report on the discovery.
“The case is being classified as sudden death,” he said.
The deceased has been identified as Fu Chien Chien, 30, from Kampung Luak.
