KUCHING: One of the country’s popular indie rock bands Noh & Da Vagabonds are planning to tour Europe next year as part of their plans to gain international exposure.

Their lead singer, Noh Salleh, said they might embark on the tour in the second half of next year after the necessary arrangements with the performance venues were finalised.

“We are keen to go to Europe and it is definitely an exciting project for all of us,” he told the media during the meet-the-fans sessions at Damai Beach Resort recently.

According to him, the band had received a lot of invitations to perform at corporate and private functions next year which augur well in promoting their indie rock music.

“Next year will be very busy for us and there are a lot of invitations for us to perform including concerts and gigs,” said Noh who was the lead singer of another indie rock band — Hujan.

“Da Vagabonds is a unique band because our members consist of those who have been in the music industry for a long time except for our bassist, Alia, the youngest addition to the band.”

Well-known indie music guitarist and producer Herri Hamid, one of the better known personalities in the local music industry, is now a member of the band which also played a hybrid of British invasion punk rock and the 1960s pop yeh yeh.

Noh who hailed from Piasau expressed optimism for the local music industry to see better days when more talented young musicians come into the scene and to spur the demand for live indie rock music performances.
