KUCHING: Join the celebration of youths at Jeenx Music Festival 2013 this New Year’s Eve in Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) with exciting activities and music to rock the place till midnight.
Led by Izzat Faqih, the group of young people from Jeenx Management and Events Company was optimistic that this event will attract local youths, as well as their parents and families.
“It is a celebration for youths by youths, with the kind of music they love, the kind of x-games they play, and a place to meet up with one another for a good, fun time while ushering in the new year,” he said at a press conference yesterday.
Organisers are expecting a crowd of 5,000 people at the festival.
Among the groups that will be performing are KL-based Kyoto Protocol, Salam Music, Massacre Conspiracy, and Heart Meets Hurricane. The local bands playing are Sonar Instinct, and Search & Destroy.
There will also be three local singers performing — Sasha Ningkan, Ashraf Hardy, and Karmal. Local DJs who will be spinning through the night include DJ Aisi, SJ Afick Wazai, and DJ D-Zul Kuching.
For youths who like to get physical, there will be competitions with grand prizes of RM3,000. These include skateboarding, inline skating and skimboarding.
Izzat added that they are awaiting confirmation from more international artistes, including DJs and YouTube artistes.
Damai Beach Resort is the official resort for the event. Its general manager Zulkifli Othman said that they welcome the event.
“These are a group of young, ambitious people who are out to improve the local music scene.
“As their host hotel and partner, they have our full support,” he said.
