MIRI: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism in Bintulu seized 20,000 liters of diesel from a storage facility on Tuesday.
The ministry’s state director Stanley Tan said yesterday that the raid at Mile 6 Bintulu–Miri Road took place at about 6pm.
He added that the owner could not produce the authorisation letter to keep or store diesel in the facility.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
Meanwhile, from Feb 1 till 24 this year, the ministry’s Miri office recorded 14 cases that contravened the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, with seizure of goods totaling RM1,886.95.
Last month, the ministry seized RM246.30 worth of goods from five cases.
The ministry also recorded two cases under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 since the beginning of the year. The first case took place last month, and it involved the seizure of RM74, 200 of goods. The second case happened early this month, and goods worth RM172 were seized.
