MIRI: A male customer was among the six persons picked up by the police in an anti-vice raid on two reflexology centres in the city centre late Tuesday evening.
Police also arrested three foreign national women, believed to be Vietnamese, providing massage service, but suspected to be involved in the flesh trade.
Police nabbed a further two men, believed to be the receptionist and caretaker of the centre, at Centre Point Commercial Centre here.
During Ops Noda conducted on one of the centres, a foreign woman was found naked while massaging a customer in one of the parlours at the centre.
The customer was clad in a towel when police raided the centre.
The foreigners were later brought to the Central Police Station for investigation under Section 372 of the Penal Code trade while the two men were investigated under Section 39 (b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for harbouring illegal immigrants.
The customer was released after police recorded his statement.
Meanwhile, police are also conducting ‘Ops Dadu’ to curb online gambling activities in two cyber centres at Centre Point Commercial Centre and at Jalan Bulan Sabit here.
In the raid at Centre Point Commercial Centre, police nabbed a man believed to be a worker, and seized RM400 cash, 25 computers and central processing units (CPUs).
In a shophouse at Jalan Bulan Sabit, police nabbed a male believed to be a worker of the centre and seized 24 computers with CPUs and RM800 cash.
Both cases are being investigated under the Open Gaming Houses Act 1953.
Two officers, 10 personnel from the D7 units of IPK Sarawak and CID from Miri Police Headquarters were involved in both operations conducted from 4pm to 11.15 pm.
