KUCHING: Wholesaler Boon Choon Heng Sdn Bhd is offering a wide array of imported fruits and vegetables plus a selection of processed foods in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year.
Its director Peter NC Bong said they were offering more variety this year to enable customers to have more choices to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
“The weather has been kind in these food-producing countries and harvests were plentiful and with good quality,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday, adding that their products were being sold at reasonable prices.
Bong said the fresh vegetables, fruits, dried and processed foods stashed on the food shelves were imported from countries like Australia, South Africa, China, France, Holland, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and the USA.
“We have apples from South Africa, grapes from the USA, carrot and cauliflowers from Australia and oranges from China and Taiwan.
“Of course some were obtained locally, such as the sweet pomelo from Sabah – they are absolutely delicious.”
He added that Chinese New Year would not be complete without the traditional oranges, and Boon Choon Heng’s offering include Taiwan Ponkan, Tangerines, Honey and Mandarin oranges.
In tandem with the growing health consciousness among customers, Bong said literature and catalogues were readily available for customers to know their products better.
On mushroom seasoning, he recommended those under the Vegetalk brand – a winning brand in Singapore as its ingredients are extracted using modern technology. This product is ideal for frying dishes, stewing, soup and much more.
As for drinks, Bong said they had eight different flavours of soya milk drinks under the Unisoy brand. He explained
that the beans were organically grown, is halal and had won Singapore Prestige Brand Award last year.
“The drink is made from 100 per cent top grade non-GMO organic soya beans, is low in fat, is cholesterol free and diary free, and comes with a cookbook on how to work up amazing flavours of soya milk.”
For those who buy a packet, customer would be given a pen as a gift. Those who buy two or more packets would be given a plastic bottle container that can withstand heat of up to 80 degree Fahrenheit.
Bong said they too have tea for rejuvenating a person health under the Honsei brand, and these include Honsei Instant Honey Chrysanthemum Tea, Honsei Instant MilkTea, Honsei Ginger tea and Honsei Barley drinks.
For noodles, they have a traditional handmade noodle and another product from Singapore under Hup Huat Noodles Pte Ltd, which is managed by the fourth generation Koh Family.
“They are well-packed noodle dishes, produced with eggs and spinach, and come with cooking instructions and printed nutrient content for those who want to get acquainted with the product.”
The wholesaler is located at Wisma KYS, Lot 11784,Block 16 KCLD, Jalan Sherip Masahor, near BDC flyover.
Its operating hours from now till Jan 29 will be 8am to 9.30pm, and from 8am to 1pm on Chinese New Year’s eve.
