Vehicles moving slowly along the congested road.

MIRI: Traffic congestion always occurs along the way to South School Miri at Brighton road during peak hours, causing vehicles to move at a snail’s pace from Luak Bay road up to Miri City.

Commenting on this, PAS Miri chief cum PAS Sarawak deputy commissioner III, Jofri Jaraiee, claimed that it normally takes only 10 minutes to get to Miri City but due to traffic congestion the journey would take more than an hour.

“This situation is common in the big cities but now Miri is also facing the same problem as a result of no proper and effective road planning by the contractor that is currently constructing the road,” Jofri said.

According to Jofri, the contractor must pave the potholed road immediately and widen it to facilitate the movement of traffic.

Besides that, he said the contractor also needs to build an alternative route while doing works on the road so that vehicles can move smoothly.

He also said the problem is made worse during school hours when vehicles are parked along the road, which restricts the movement of traffic.
