KUCHING: Welfare work goes on as usual as Kenyalang-based charity group — House of Si Yuan — distributed donations to the needy yesterday in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.
According to an SUPP Youth statement, all the donations, which came from the public, were distributed by the party’s Central Youth chief Tan Kai at its headquarters.
“We have not forgotten about the less fortunate and we can all help to create a loving and caring society,” said Tan who gave away packets of white rice, dry foods and ang pows to a total of nine families and individuals.
He added that even though the donations and ang pows were not worth a lot, they would lighten the burden of needy families during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Tan affirmed that despite the crisis in the party, all welfare work would be carried out as usual.
“Those who need assistance should not hesitate to approach the party,” he added.
