KUCHING: Shoppers at Plaza Merdeka had a fun and exciting time at the Santa’s charity beard snipping event yesterday.
All they had to do was donate a minimum of RM10 and get a chance to come up on stage to snip a small bit of Santa’s beard.
Each participant also received a photo and letter emailed from Santa after the event.
Santa told the crowd that he needed to cut his beard because he was going on a vacation.
“I plan to go on vacation after Christmas and to do so; I need to be in disguise, which meant cutting my beard. After Gawai, I will grow my beard again for next year’s Christmas,” Santa said.
All proceeds go towards a local concern, ‘Go Go Green’ which aims to minimise plastic rubbish in the state’s waterways.
The event was organised by the mall as part of its Christmas activities.
