MIRI: The Orang Ulu community in Baram is urged to continue to give their undivided support to the government as it looks forward to realise the proposed Telang Usan New Township (BBTU).
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said the Orang Ulu should not waste any more time as the state government is keen to develop the constituency and to raise the living standard of the community.
“Strong support from the people is the key in making sure that everything that has been planned by the government is achieved.
“We must remember that for the Orang Ulu community to be on par with other races in the country, we must cooperate with the government that would lead us through,” he said when officiating at the inaugural 2013 Pre-Christmas Dinner at Meritz Hotel here Friday night.
Dennis said that there were a lot of challenges ahead especially on the proposed Baram Dam issues. He advised the people not to listen to lies spread by irresponsible parties taking advantage of them.
Instead, he said, the people should trust the government as that it implemented is for the betterment of people in the constituency.
“Years pass and I believe we have achieved several things. But we still need to improve the living standard of the Orang Ulu people as a whole and improve or build better facilities in the constituency,” he added.
Dennis also announced his minor rural project (MRP) grant for several schools, village security and development committees (JKKK) and organisations.
The dinner was organised by Telang Usan service centre. It was attended by about 300 people. Also present were political secretary to the Chief Minister Robert Laing, Miri Resident Antonio Kahti Galis and his deputy Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf.
