KUCHING: Malaysia measures its Key Performance Indicator (KPI) by curbing corruption.

State director of Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Datuk Bahari Mohammad Zin made this observation when officiating at the MACC Invitational Meet Shooting Competition at IPK Target Range Kuching yesterday.

“The implementation of Government Transformation Programme (GTP) 2.0 through National Key Result Areas (NKRA) shows committment to improve the delivery service of civil servant to be more efficient and effective through work ethnics and integrity,” he said

Efforts in making MACC an independent entity is a big change in line with public wish for the agency to be free, transparent and professional. Bahari revealed that MACC has five independent panels watching its movement.

He said public perception is the main challenge for MACC.

“In order to curb corruption, MACC cannot stand alone but every community should work together with us to overcome this national issue,” he added.

He hoped programmes like the shooting competition allow MACC to interact to share information on corruption, and promote its effort to curb corruption.

Bahari’s text of speech was read by his deputy Wan Mohammad Wan Drahman who officiated at the event and presented trophies to winning participants from government agencies and the media. Also present were Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak general manager Datu AbangMohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie and Kuching deputy district police chief Superintendent Fauzilan Abd Aziz.
