SIBU: Junior Chamber International (JCI) is an ideal platform for young people to share their initiatives and experiences, said Local Government and Community Development Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.
“JCI is also a stimulating launch pad for youngsters to turn their passion and ideas into actions.
“Through the wide range of network available through JCI, youths will be able to fine tune their leadership skills and make valuable connections with like-minded people not only from Sibu or Malaysia but across the world,” he said at JCI Sibu 57th installation ceremony here on Sunday.
His text-of-speech was read out by Sibu Municipal Council’s deputy chairman Datuk Andrew Wong.
Urging JCI members to give back to the communities where they lived and worked, Soon Koh said there were plenty of examples that they could learn from within JCI.
“That spirit of giving back for your country and community drives great men and women in government, the non-profit sector and businesses to solve some of society’s most difficult problems.
“As the young generation in Malaysia, you have the responsibility to improve the quality of life in the communities where you live and work.”
At the function, Alex Moh was installed the new president of JCI Sibu. He replaced Shirley Lei.
