MIRI: The scene at the distribution of 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) 3.0 for the second batch of recipients here yesterday was calmer and orderly unlike during the first batch.
Despite the huge crowd at the Civic Centre, the distribution process was smooth and more systematic.
Communications Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who was at the centre, was relieved that more counters were set up.
“In addition to the existing counters, a counter is specially opened to assist senior citizens, giving out numbers to them so that they can wait for their turn at the designated place. This way, they need not have to stand in the long queue with the younger people.
“Meanwhile, those who have any question regarding their application, two officers from Inland Revenue Board are on hand to assist them at another counter,” he said.
Lee credited the orderly crowd to the Resident’s Office and Pos Malaysia, who made sure that approval letters were sent out to the recipients from last Saturday.
“I was told that these letters were specially delivered to the recipients in time for them to make their claim this week, therefore those who came here today already know which direction they should head to,” he added.
A total of 13,252 recipients will receive the aid via voucher.
The distribution centre is opened from March 10 until 14, from 8.30am until 5pm.
Lee also advised them to come during lunch hour or in the afternoon, when there are shorter queues.
