KUCHING: A courier service deliveryman died two days shy of his 32nd birthday after he was run over by a car along Jalan Batu Kawah yesterday.
The deceased, identified as Hamizan Hamdin of Kampung Paya Mebi at Mile 10 Landeh, died on the spot from serious head and body injuries in the 2pm incident.
According to witnesses, the victim was riding his motorcycle towards Mile 3 when he appeared to lose control of the machine and struck the central road divider.
The impact flung him onto the opposite lane where he was struck and run over by an oncoming luxury saloon car.
Medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital were immediately summoned to the scene although there was nothing they could do except to certify the death.
Traffic police personnel were also on hand to document and investigate the fatal accident.
In another accident, a courier service employee suffered a broken arm in a three-vehicle collision along Mile 28 Kuching-Serian Road on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old victim was in a courier service van driven by another employee when the vehicle went out of control and struck a small hatchback car before colliding into a stationary lorry, which had broken down by the roadside two hours earlier.
The collision left him with a fractured right arm, for which he received treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital, while the family of four travelling in the small hatchback car suffered minor injuries and were sent to Serian Hospital for treatment.
The van driver was unhurt in the 9.45pm incident.
