SIBU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) national Women vice-president Voon Shiak Ni announced at a press conference today that PKR would be representing Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the upcoming Balingian by-elections necessitated by the resignation of Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
She was confident that PKR would do better this time than when they last contested for the Balingian seat and that they would be working with the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Pan-Malaysia Islamic Party (PAS) and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) as a team.
In the last state election held in 2011, Taib won the Balingian seat with 6,210 votes against independent candidate Datuk Salleh Jafaruddin (1,056 votes) and PKR candidate Suriati Abdullah (871 votes).
