KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Serian Branch Committee yesterday refuted claims made by a group claiming themselves to be committee members of the branch during a press conference on Dec 14.

In its statement released yesterday, the SUPP Serian Branch, said the alleged group led by Senior William Rade who claimed to be the SUPP Serian Branch deputy youth chief did not represent the branch.

The statement also clarified that Senior was not a current committee member of the SUPP Serian Branch but was the deputy youth chief about 20 years ago.

Another leader of the group was Mathew Kong Kim Hua was the SUPP Serian youth chief about 15 years ago.

The statement added that some of the alleged members who attended the press conference to show their support towards Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh were not even SUPP members and that they must stop making statements on behalf of Serian Branch.

As SUPP is a democratic party, it would not stop their members from giving comments and opinions but they should not claim to be SUPP Serian Branch the statement said.

Meanwhile, the SUPP Serian Branch also expressed their hope that the party would not be deregistered as the majority of the party members are third generation members.

Currently, the SUPP Serian Branch is led by their chief Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem who is also the Minister of Human Resources and six-term Serian MP.
