LIMBANG: Integrated anti-dengue programmes carried out jointly by the people and the authorities have been successful in preventing the spread of dengue fever at Kampong Hujung Jalan Medamit, Limbang.
Acting Chairman of the Limbang District Dengue Outbreak Committee, Hamidah Halpi said lately there had been no cases reported from the area.
“In January, there were 12 cases while two were reported in the area early this month.
“The village headman and the people have given their full cooperation on activities to control the spread of the disease, she added.
All village headmen and JKKKs (Village Development and Security Committees) have been directed to initiate cleaning programmes on gotong royong basis, both indoor and outside their respective premises to free their areas from becoming mosquito breeding grounds,” she said yesterday.
The Health Department conducted Educational programmes on dengue prevention strategies and distribute pamphlets at strategic locations to give the people more awareness.
She reminded the people not to be complacent with the current situation but continue with their on-going preventive measures.
