Ripin: Early ICT exposure good for primary pupils

MIRI: Primary school pupils should be given early exposure on skills to master Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat said this move was vital to ensure that pupils are not left behind in ICT development.

“In the modern era, today’s educational perspective is totally different from the past.

“It is because the rapid global development in ICT has demanded that students be more competitive and creative to acquire knowledge,” he stated in his address when officiating at SJK Tukau’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Programme- ‘e-Classroom’ at the school in Tukau yesterday.

In view of that, Ripin said it is imperative that the school equip pupils with ICT skill which in line with the government’s aspiration to produce an ICT society.

He praised the SJK Tukau’s PTA for its commitment in helping the school management to have an ‘e-Classroom’ facility for its pupils.

“The total support showed by the PTA towards the school is commendable.

“With this facility, it will help the pupils to acquire information from the Internet which is instrumental to their school’s learning process.”

He wanted the school to utilise the facility wisely, to increase the pupils’ academic performance.

Later at the function, he announced grant a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation worth RM10,000 and contribution of 12 units of wall fans for the school.

He also presented 22 units of 1Malaysia laptops to the teachers in the school.

Also present were senior assistant to the school’s headmaster, Tiong Yieng Nee and the chairman of the school’s PTA, Chong Kong Fui.
