SIBU: A man broke into a petrol station in Brooke Drive and stole a radio Thursday night.

A footage of the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) showed a man sneaking into the petrol station six minutes after all workers had left at 10pm.

He apparently took an iron spare part from the workshop and smashed the glass wall of the office, triggering the alarm system. He took a radio from the office and left on a bicycle.

Person-in-charge of the petrol station lodged a police report at 11.30pm.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested for breaking into a house at Lane 18B, Merdeka Road Thursday night.

Neighbour heard noises from the house and informed the house owner. The police, who came to the house after being alerted by the house owner, saw a man climb out of the fence.

After a chase, they arrested the 45-year-old man at a nearby construction site.

The police also recovered from a bush nearby a laptop taken from the house.

Later at the house, the police found a screw driver, some tools and slippers believed to have been left behind by the thief.
