KUCHING: The RM5.2 million new building of Chung Hua Primary School No.1 will be completed by end of April and is expected to be utilised in May.
Chung Hua Primary School No.1 to No. 6 management committee chairman Dr Chou Chii Ming revealed that the project is 85 percent complete.
The new building, which was four months behind schedule, will have 24 classrooms, a multipurpose hall with the capacity for 1,000 pupils at a time, a new canteen and a dental clinic.
“We are preparing to increase up to 36 classes but we can only do it next year. The old school building has 24 classes and we currently have about 600 pupils.
“Once the contractor hands over the new school building to us by end of April, we will be using the new one while the old building will be used for other purposes like library and kindergarten.
“At the moment we only have one kindergarten but no separate room,” he informed The Borneo Post yesterday.
According to him, the project was delayed for a few months due to technical problems, which the management committee sorted out.
The new school will have a beautiful garden, surrounded by trees and next to a park.
The location be more quiet, away from noise and air pollution.
Chou thanked all donors who had generously contributed to the school’s building fund.
