KUCHING: Kuching Memorial Services Sdn Bhd (KMS) has developed a cemetery garden with a great view.

Former deputy works minister Datuk Yong Khoon Seng revealed this at the KMS recognition night for its sales personnel here on Wednesday

Yong said KMS was creative and good management had increased its sales. He hoped it would continue creating new concepts and striving to improve the quality of its products, besides providing better services to customers.

He complimented the management’s leadership and their agents for upgrading themselves to provide better services.

He encouraged the agents to do their best in friendly competition with others. Those who did not receive recognition were urged not to give up but to work harder.

KMS’ managing director Anna Wong revealed that KMS would this year introduce a new Taiwanese concept for a cremation cemetery with a design that is a mix of contemporary and traditional. She said the demand of cremation service increased last year, making up 40 per cent of all services. It had become a trend as people prefer simpler methods.

She said despite inflation and the economic downturn, sales were still good.

She complimented the sale agents for hitting their sales targets and achieving good results and their effort in promoting the funeral management concept.

She said KMS always came out with new ideas and new products. For instance when the pet cemetery was introduced in 2011, many thought people would not spend that kind of money on pets.

“Many people forget it is based on the same concept – that is ‘love’. Love for parents, for spouse, children, friends and all living things,” she said.

She believed that love endured and was not limited to human beings. Humans can love their animals as evidenced by sales in its animal cemetery which increased last year.

She disclosed that KMS emphasised charitable works and had donated coffins and burial services to the poor.

KMS also supported Chinese education and had spent RM11,000 on Chung Hua Middle School’s fundraising raffle tickets.
