MIRI: Miri Hospital Blood Bank is in need of Group B blood to replenish its fast depleting stock which was used up during the festive season.

According to the medical officer-in-charge Dr Manju Inder, the current stock of Group B blood is not at a comfortable level. Hence those with such blood group are urged to donate their blood.

“Overall, the supply of blood is getting back to normal, except for Group B blood.

“We need more of this blood group to meet demand,” she said when contacted yesterday.

On the supply of group AB blood, Dr Manju assured it was quite stable.

Meanwhile, the public may support a blood donation drive at Bintang Megamall (new wing) from 9am to 2pm this Sunday.

The blood bank hoped to collect at least 50 pints of blood at the campaign.

SMK Baru Miri will hold a similar exercise tomorrow (Feb 19). The next one will be on this Saturday (Feb 22), organised by the BEMS at Miri-Airport Road, from 9am to 1pm, and followed by another one at Miri Airport (first floor, front office) on Feb 26.

Individuals wishing to donate blood can also walk in to the blood bank during office hours.

It is open from 8.30am to noon and 2.15pm to 4pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and from 8.30am to 11am and 2.30pm to 4pm on Fridays. It is close on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
