Man claims trial to charge of possessing housebreaking tools

KUCHING: A man charged with possessing tools, believed for committing housebreaking, claimed trial in a magistrates’ court here.

Mohamad Noh Alin, 32, from Kampung Segedup in Batu Kawa enjoyed a short freedom after being released on bail pending the next mention. He was re-arrested in connection with theft of a vehicle by a team of police.

Yesterday he appeared before Magistrate Portia Tham who released him on RM2,000 bail in two local sureties; the trial date fixed on April 9 while case management on March 11.

He allegedly committed the offence when detained behind a shop at Matang Jaya around 6.30pm last Feb 7.

Initial investigation uncovered tools including saws, screw-driver, hammers as well as pliers from a Toyota Nadia he had driven.

He was subsequently brought to the police station for investigation.

He will be tried under Section 35 (g)(ii) of the Minor Offence Ordinance 1957 which provides a six-month penalty or fine up to RM1,000 upon conviction. Inspector Austin Patrick Angkon prosecuted.
