KUCHING: The Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) is seeing a dramatic increase in the number of Chinese members recently.
Its president, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, said this when met by reporters after he attended an ‘ang pow’ presentation ceremony for 25 old folks at the Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng Association yesterday.
“We don’t have the figures currently, but there has been a dramatic increase in the number of Chinese members after we amended the party’s constitution and we seem to get a good response,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president, declined to give any comment regarding the rife speculation of Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s possible resignation via the state Legislative Assembly’s dissolving before its term end in April 2016.
Abang Johari, who is also Minister of Housing and Tourism, also said he did not have any idea of the agenda of the preparation briefing for the 11th state election to be held at the Chief Minister’s Office this coming Monday.
