KUCHING: Constructive criticism towards any events organised by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is welcomed.
Kuching North City Commissioner Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai made this call in response to public criticism on Facebook calling such events wasteful and causing traffic congestion.
“DBKU only wishes to bring together the community in the development of the city. Therefore, I hope that citizens of Kuching will come together and support us in our endeavours,” he said when met by reporters at the DBKU Agenda 2014 E-Peraduan prize-giving ceremony yesterday.
He thus urged members of the public to provide constructive criticism that can benefit society as well as future events that the local authority can carry out.
“As mayor, I will continue to do what is fit for the community. Therefore, I hope to receive good suggestions from members of the public so that future DBKU events will have a good impact to all,” Abdul Wahap said.
He added that members of the public can direct their suggestions to him through mail or his Facebook, which is Datuk Bandar Kuching Utara.
Meanwhile, Abdul Wahap also presented the grand prize of a Honda Wave S110 motorcycle to winner Mohamad Azman Langgie, who won after guessing as many as 2,615 pingpong balls, the closest guess to the total of 2,628 pingpong balls, in 37,814 milliseconds.
