MIRI: A girl, aged 15, has claimed she was raped by her male acquaintance behind an entertainment outlet in Batu Niah early Sunday morning.
A police report was lodged on the morning of the same day by her mother at Batu Niah Police Station.
According to the report, the girl claimed that the man had dragged her to the back of the outlet where he raped her.
The girl further claimed that she went to the outlet with her friends early on Saturday night before the suspect came.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, when contacted, said the case was being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
According to sources, the victim was seen crying at the scene by passers-by who brought her to Batu Niah Police Station.
