MIRI: Office workers in high rise buildings especially, should be well-equipped with basic knowledge on fire safety, prevention and the use of extinguishers, to avoid panic.
Hence, the need to take up courses or to attend related talks, said Lopeng Zone Fire Station senior officer II Henry Jugah, with the timely advice.
“Above all, having basic knowledge on fire safety, prevention and extinguishment is most important. This is so, in the event of fire outbreak, you would not panic because you are well-equipped with the knowledge,” he assured at his talk on ‘Fire Safety’ yesterday.
He was speaking to an audience of 50 personnel and staff from Naim Land Sdn Bhd, in the talk organised by the company at Naim Cendera Office in Pujut 2, Bandar Baru Permyjaya, Tudan.
Jugah emphasised on prevention, the cause of death in a fire outbreak, strategic prevention and strategic escape, and universal laws to avoid tragedy.
He also spoke on roles and responsibilities of officers and safety management towards the safety of a workplace and the classification of fire.
Following the talk, Jugah led the participants to a demonstration to prevent and put out fires.
“Knowing how to prevent fires, and to put it out, could save lives and properties, thus it is vital to have the right knowledge,” Jugah said.
Naim Land Sdn Bhd Miri senior project manager Mahathir Mohamed, Land Administration manager Wong Sin Ong and project manager Patrick Kong also attended the talk and demonstration.
