BINTULU: Students must be given more exposure to education options so they can decide what is best for their future.

Education Department School Management Sector head Freda Abdul Latip said events such as ‘Shopping for the Future 2015’ here yesterday are ideal.

“This exhibition is the best medium to expose students to the latest information on opportunities to further their studies and potential career paths for future undertakings.

“In this programme, the students will be able to get the related information easily besides seeking professional consultations from the institutions,” she said when representing education state director Serina Sauni at the opening ceremony.

She said the programme would help students make wise decisions based on interests, potential career paths, capabilities and academic achievements.

“We are pleased with the current scenario of the education system in the country in terms of quality and quantity with the involvement of private agencies in the higher learning sector.

“This can be seen with the establishment of various private higher learning institutions. This is a positive development due to a higher demand for quality higher level education which cannot be provided by existing public institutions,” said Freda.

She added that new private tertiary institutions are giving new hope and more opportunities to students who wish to further their studies.

Meanwhile, Bintulu education officer Abdul Muin Abdul Kassim said all students have the chance to further their studies as long as they are informed about the opportunities.

He said the programme would give parents and students more options under one roof.
