BINTULU: Several major roads and residential housing areas have been flooded following heavy rainfall from yesterday. Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel are prepared in case water levels rise even higher.
Residences that were affected by flooding this morning include KM 5, Jalan Taman Hussein Onn; Jalan Kidurong, Sungai Sebatang Tengah and Batu 8 1/2 Kampung Tuai Perumah Banyan.
Bomba moved 500 schoolchildren from SJK Sebiew Chinese, Batu 5 to a safer location. Meanwhile 35 residents were also moved to higher ground.
Other agencies involved in rescue efforts include the Malaysian Civil Defence Department, volunteer firefighters, Sarawak River Board and the police.
