LIMBANG: Limbang district has been chosen to be the first destination for the Minibike Motor Sports event as an effort to promote the sport among youths here.
The local district council mayor Sufian Mohat said despite the lack of relevant infrastructure and facilities, the organiser is not deterred.
“In fact, minibike motoring has fast become one of the popular sports among youths here because it gives them excitement and with guidance, would certainly lead them to a healthier lifestyle,” he said after officiating at a Minibike Clinic.
The clinic was organised by the District Social Development Department here in collaboration with XMC Minibike Association from Kota Belud, Sabah, and Limbang Extreme Motorcross.
In addition to this, Sufian said the council planned to collaborate with XMC Minibike Association to make the minibike sports event an annual affair in conjunction with Bukit Mas Day celebration, happening every October.
Among those present were Deputy Resident Hamidah Halpi, XMC Minibike Association chairman Rozi Perlin, secretary Mohd Multazar Bundah and Limbang Extreme Motorcross acting chairman Mohd Yusop Hamid.
The inaugural event saw close to 50 participants taking part with ages ranging between five and 12.
