SIBU: Three schools in the state were closed yesterday due to floods.
According to the information from the state Education Department, the schools were SK Kuala Kenyana (Mukah), SK Kuala Awang (Limbang) and SK Sungai Siong Tengah (Sibu).
Meanwhile, SK Nanga Bon in Kemuyang started class last Friday after closing for four days when the access road to the school was inundated.
The school has 83 pupils, 12 teachers and three non-teaching staff.
SK Jalan Deshon located near the town reopened on Jan 6.
The second wave of flash floods might occur here before and during the New Lunar Year, according to Sibu Disaster Relief Committee chairman Sim Kok Kee.
