MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) is offering a 50 percent discount on default fees for late payment of assessment rates.
House and property owners in Miri may enjoy the offer from Jan 1 to May 31 this year.
However, the discount is only for default fees or surcharge for late payment. The principle payment would remain as they have been gazetted.
Therefore, house and property owners would still have to pay the principle amount of their assessment rate to the council.
Anticipating that many people would be taking up the offer, house owners in the city are reminded not to make a last minute rush to enjoy the discount on assessment rates’ default fee owing.
City council reminded that the payment must be made at the one-stop-centre on the ground floor of its multi-storey car park.
