Chung Hua Primary School No.6 at Jalan Sungai Maong Tengah now has a covered walkway measuring 35 metres long.

KUCHING: Chung Hua Primary School (CHPS) No.2 and CHPS No.3 will soon get their respective covered waiting sheds and walkways to offer convenience for pupils, teachers and parents especially on rainy days.

The project for CHPS No.2 is scheduled for commencement middle of the month while works for CHPS No.3 will begin next month.

These upcoming projects aside, the Management Committee of CHPS No.1 to 6 has recently completed a similar project for CHPS No.6 at Jalan Sungai Maong Tengah here.

The new covered waiting shed and walkway at CHPS No.6 was already in use from yesterday, said chairman of the management committee Dr Chou Chii Ming.

“We will soon build a similar one for CHPS No.2 and No.3. Generous donor Lim Hong Joo gave roofing sheets worth about RM17,000 while Wong Tiong Hock and myself each donated RM15,000 to meet the cost of cement and steel truss.

“The school board paid the labour cost of RM30,000,” he said.

The works completed at CHPS No.6 and which will soon commence for CHPS No.2 totalled RM77,000.

Chou added the project cost for CHPS No.3 was estimated at RM45,000.

The covered walkway at CHPS No.6 measures about 35 metres.

While CHPS No.3 will be equipped with one of similar length, it is estimated CHPS No.2 will require a covered walkway of 50 metres or so.

“We are expecting great donations from parents to meet the project cost for CHPS No.3. And the balance will be covered by the school board.”

CHPS No.2, which has 1,222 pupils, is situated at Jalan Tabuan Jaya 2, Stutong while CHPS No.3 at Jalan Padungan registers 1,399 pupils and CHPS No.6 (1,275 pupils).
