MIRI: All eyes were drawn to the stage at Bintang Megamall where musicians from Pei Min Middle School’s Chinese Orchestra Troupe played their hearts out.

The harmonious numbers represented the four seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – played on traditional instruments like the er hu, hu qin, zhong ruan and Da Ruan paired with westernised instruments like violin, cello and double bass.

A short 20-minute music recital conducted by Tham Wan Siong enable the audience to feel the merriment of Chinese New Year.

The recital was part of a CNY special programme presented last Friday. It was a collaboration of Bintang Megamall Miri and Miri FM Chinese Services, supported by RTM Miri branch.

The launch was officiated by Miri FM programme head Dayang Fatimah Awang Lai and Datuk Sebastian Ting, accompanied by Bintang Megamall executive director Ricky Lau; marketing manager Alex Chung, event executive Allen Wong and Miri FM Chinese programme organiser Teo Kee Hoe.

Apart from the recital, the two-hour event also saw a graceful Phoenix cultural dance by Cai Yun Fei Performing Arts Studio and lion dance by Miri Wei Hseng Lion Dance Troupe.

The highlight was the appearance of cast members of ‘Go! Go! Oh My God’, a newly released movie, lead by New Pro Star executive director Angel Chan, who sang a few numbers of CNY songs.
